What is?

Model NS

What makes a classic model an archetype? Being first helps, and so does doing a great job. Having been watched by zillions, having been played by countless guitar gods, and so on.
However, due to the dialectics of progress, some design quirks have helt this model anchored in it's design era. Plastics may have been considered classy in the late fifties, and the exposure of nuts and bolts on the front did not seem objectionable yet.
More than fifty years later, screws, nuts and bolts and sheets of plastic have disappeared from virtually all devices. Except from guitars. Why is this? For one, people have accepted it, and the guitar world is more conservative than just about any other field. Moreover, concealing them is not as easy as on some other devices. Mounting from the back removes too much wood, and leaves no room to mount the tremolo.
A carefully scaled solution, involving a removeable block that holds the pickups and the tremolo spring claw, solves this dilemma. If done correctly, it removes less wood than on a standard model. Also, by experimenting, it turned out that manufacturing this block from the same wood the neck is made of, this construction enhances sustain and directness, yet maintains the character of the wood the body is made of.
Thus, not only an anachronistic aestethic flaw of the origianl design was eliminated, the tone qualities are improved upon, giving the player a high quality version of an archetypical electric guitar.

We are proud to have Arnold on board as the first Model NS endorser. His virtuosity is always in service of the music, like it should be. The guitar featured in the pictures on the right and below is his. Artwork by Fred Dons.

Of course, being a 21st century guitar, humfree pickups are incorporated. To my mind, the need of classic single coils has been made redundant by Dimarzio Virtual Vintage pickups, Bill Lawrence or Kinman pickups. These pickups sound as good as any true single coil but are as quiet as a humbucker.
Any combination of pickup type and size is possible on the Model NS. Although a vintage tremolo is standard, for the advanced tremoholic Floyd Rose, Super Vee and Trem King alternatives can be installed.
Neck options like compound radius enhance playabilty, and the optional Vox Humana CarbonTech creates stiffness and tonal stability unlike any other neck.
Environment friendly 2K laquer ensures an ultra thin yet strong high gloss finish. Alternatively, a high tech oil finish provides a strong matte finish.
