The Headless Headpiece
This exquisite piece of engineering replaces the headstock AND the tuners on a guitar, making the use of a headless bridge or tremolo redundant. The six tuning wheels are easily accessible with smooth and precise operation. Since the ball end goes into the headpiece, the bare string end needs to be locked into the bridge or tailpiece. So either a Floyd Rose type locking tremolo or a locking tailpiece is necessary. I use the non-fine-tuning Floyd Rose tremolo a lot, as there’s no need for the fine tuners and it looks more modest than the regular FR. A tune-o-matic tailpiece with locking capability is available if ordered together with the headpiece. Price is €60 (chrome/nickel/black) or €70 (gold). Although the headpiece could be installed on a ‘decapitated’ old neck, its main purpose is to fit a neck that is specifically made for it, and instructions for dimensions will be included.
